2019 Rosé

Tasting notes
Wine
This rosé shows aromas of red bramble fruits, raspberry, and strawberry. On the palate there are hints of strawberry, black cherry; soft tannins help structure the wine and support a nice lingering finish.
* 100% Estate Grown Fruit from the Middleburg Virginia AVA
Production notes
Production
Two-thirds of this Rosé wine is from a blend of juices bled (saignée) from Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot after 24-48 hours skin contact with those wine lots. The Malbec used for this wine was chilled overnight and then whole cluster pressed. The final blend also had Sauvignon Blanc added at 28%. The Malbec harvest on September 10th signaled the beginning of our red grape harvest for 2019. The varieties used for saignée were harvested throughout September and into early October.

"The unusual addition of Sauvignon Blanc, says the winery, was to add acidity and liveliness. Well, that is a nice success story. This is spicy, distinctive and wonderfully fresh. It has reasonable body, but the bright feel and intense (but dry) Flavors make this a pleasure. It's a serious style with some tension and perkiness."
