Best Rosé, 2021 Loudoun County Wine Awards

375 mL bottle

A blend of six Boxwood varieties, all estate grown.  Sauvignon Blanc added to balance wine and increase aromas.  Each variety bled separately and cool fermented with tailored yeasts.  Crisp acidity, soft tannins, and full-bodied, with refreshing finish.

New Release!

The 2023 Rosé has ripe aromas of strawberry, raspberry, watermelon and a hint of fig. The palate reveals cherries and apple spice. This is a full body rosé with crisp acidity and a lingering finish.

The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc was picked later in the season than the 2019, producing a medium-bodied wine.  Pale-yellow with tropical fruit flavors and smooth acidity, a nice lingering finish.

Hints of lime, orange zest, and wet stone give the first impressions of the aromas. The palate yields orange zest, lemongrass, lime with a hint of pineapple. This wine has good weight and delivers a bright, refreshing acidity.  Citrus and pear linger for the finish.

Some spice to start, along with dark bramble fruits such as blackberry, black raspberry and plum.  Notes of white pepper and cocoa with integrated tannins provide good texture and structure to the wine.  A fruit-filled finish, with a little licorice, that lingers well.

Black cherries and plums dominate the aroma and the flavor profiles, assisted by a smooth palate and a hint of licorice on the finish. Mouth filling fruit flavors and supple tannins are nicely integrated into the wine giving it good structure and texture. The fruit flavors linger well beyond the last swallow.

Aromas of vanilla, fig preserves, and light tobacco.  A smooth texture with noticeable but mature tannins.  Good mouthfeel with notes of bright fruit flavors; olive, black pepper, black plum.  Finishes clean with licorice tones.

Cabernet Sauvignon provides the backbone to this beautiful blend, while Merlot contributes to the smooth mouthfeel. Together they shine with a complex cocoa nose, black raspberry and cassis fruit flavors, with a hint of vanilla and light tobacco. The drying finish hints of the years to come as the wine develops and improves with age.

Rich and complex with a deep garnet hue, this wine is indicative of the excellent vintage that brought beautiful, concentrated fruit to the winery. Begins with dark cherry and black plum aromas which contribute to the flavors and a supple mouthfeel. It finishes with a lingering note of tobacco, cranberry and cinnamon.   This wine will continue to improve with age.

Initial notes of smoke, white chocolate and tobacco, this wine indicates another excellent vintage that brought beautiful, bold fruit to the winery. Dark cherry and black plum aromas follow, contributing to the meaty, earthy cherry stone flavors and a supple mouthfeel. It finishes with a lingering note of tobacco and black licorice. This wine will continue to improve with age. This wine should mature 5-15 years.

Sauvignon Gris: 100%

This multi-layered wine starts with a trace of flint or gunpowder on the nose along with elements of lemon and lime.  On the palate one may sense a bit of lemon cream, sage, citrus and pineapple. This wine has good weight and delivers a fresh, mouth-watering acidity making the wine a fine food accompaniment as well. This fullness of flavor lingers into a long, fresh and enjoyable finish.

Crisp and clean, this rosé provides subtle aromas of red bramble fruits …raspberry, strawberry, with some spiciness. On the palate, the fruit/spice theme continues and includes hints of watermelon and red cherry through the finish. This is a full-bodied rosé with nice acidity and soft tannins to help structure the wine and support a nice lingering finish.

Hints of orange zest on the nose, along with lemongrass, slate, a slight herbal note.  These carry into the palate a little pineapple and apricot. This wine has good weight and delivers a bright, fresh, food-friendly acidity.  The fullness of flavor lingers into a long, fresh and clean finish.

This wine suggests aromas of black fruits such as blackberries, black cherry, and currant. One may sense a bit of vanilla and fig. These sensations also carry through to the palate where ripe, light tannins help give the wine a soft velvety mouthfeel. The wine maintains a black bramble fruit finish, with even a hint of dark chocolate, that lingers nicely.
