Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Production

Two different clones of Sauvignon Blanc are grown in three different vineyard blocks here at Boxwood Estate.  These different sources of the variety are then fermented and aged separetly until time to develop the final blend.  We fortunately enjoyed another good growing season in 2020 with plenty of warm termperatures and sunshine.  Useful rains during the growing season fortunately did not evolve into detrimental storms at harvest time, and we were able to bring in a nice, clean and abundant crop.  Even good seasons really do differ! 

In 2019 the last of the Sauvignon Blanc was harvested on September 4th.  In 2020 we didn't pick the first of this grape until September 8th and finished on September 17th.  Hand-picked and delivered straight to the winery the grapes were chilled, whole cluster pressed, and the juice settled.  In the effort to retain the natural aromas of the grapes and its fresh flavors, all wine lots were fermented cool , at 53-55°F.  The wine was then aged in tank with the less to accentuate the richness fo the mid-palate and to achieves a balance with the natural acidity of the wine.
